Parker Posey is known for her feisty screen roles, but she has recently been knocked down by an illness.
A statement released Wednesday by Playwrights Horizons said that Posey would not be able to perform in the new stage production of This “due to developing a case of Lyme disease.”
The actress, who has starred in movies such as Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman and Dazed and Confused, was set to play the lead in the production, which starts previews Nov. 6.
A replacement for Posey, 40, in the comedy will be announced shortly, according to Playwrights Horizons.

I can’t believe this =(
I’m concerned, if it is something very serious?

Hi,
I have been struggling with Lyme and related co-infections for two years + now. It has changed my life in ways that have been unimaginable. The traditional avenues of care proved to be fruitless and had the potential of being harmful. I did, however, find a doctor who understands what has taken over my body and has made my mind much more of a mess than I thought was possible. I work at a small college, am trying to find my way in an academic filed or two, and this has truly been a scourge on my sense of vocation.
I truly hope and pray that you have found the right care, a doctor who understands your own illness, and that you join thousands of other Lyme patients, both diagnosed and undiagnosed, in their fight for legitimacy. This is a serious epidemic that goes unnoticed. May we all find ways to make our disease known that we may find healing and wholeness again.
Peace.
Drew

Hey, Parker–just a fan who has Lyme disease to say you must rest, get long-term antibiotics, take tons of supplements, watch your thyroid and immune system, and eat very clean, organic foods. Please take a look at http://www.underourskin.com — the whole site — and see the film.
Then, get on Twitter and see what your supporters and helpful Lyme tweeters have to say. We’re not hard to find — just search “Lyme” or “#Lyme” and you’ll be amazed.
Please rest. It’s critical to your future and get the right doctor–if you’re not sure, go to ILADS.org or tweet us. We’ll help.
